π Job Summary:
We are currently looking for a Compliance Officer to work at The Port of Ramsgate. The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to all legal standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies related to building and health & safety compliance. This role involves monitoring business operations, assessing risks, implementing compliance programs, and providing guidance to employees to maintain ethical and legal standards, with a strong focus on ποΈ asbestos management, π§ legionella control, and π₯ fire risk assessments.
πΉ Key Responsibilities:
π’ Develop, implement, and oversee the company's building and health & safety compliance programs and policies.
π Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to asbestos, legionella, fire risk assessments, and other health & safety concerns.

Conduct regular compliance audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
π Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance-related matters, including safe asbestos handling, legionella prevention, and fire safety.
π΅οΈ Investigate compliance issues, incidents, and coordinate with regulatory bodies when necessary.
π Keep up to date with regulatory changes and update company policies accordingly.
π Prepare and submit reports to senior management and regulatory authorities as required.
π Foster a culture of compliance and safety awareness within the organisation.
ποΈ Maintain records of compliance activities and documentation.π― Qualifications and Skills:
πΌ Proven experience in a compliance role, preferably within building safety, facilities management, or health & safety.
βοΈ Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance best practices related to asbestos, legionella, fire risk assessments, and general building compliance.
Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Facilities Management, or a related field.

Professional certification in Health & Safety Compliance, Fire Safety, Asbestos Management, or Legionella Control is a plus.
π§ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
π― Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

π€ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
