Job Title: Clinical Psychologist/Forensic Psychologist/Counselling Psychologist – Child Sexual Exploitation and NAT (Neglect, Abuse, Trauma Service)
Salary: £50,000.00 - £55,000.00 per year (Starting salary based on qualifications and experience)
This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing new service aimed at improving the well-being and psychological functioning of young people, promoting the process of reunification back to a familial environment. The service provides weekly individual and group therapy sessions over 9 to 18 months, utilizing a variety of psychological interventions for both the young person and family members. The post-holder will be offered training and supervision appropriate to their role.
The post holder will be involved in assessments of young people and delivering both individual and group-based work. Treatment formulations will follow a highly structured treatment framework and involve a thorough diagnostic assessment process. The role also involves providing specialist consultation to staff, supporting them in working with young people and families.
Qualifications and Experience
A postgraduate qualification in psychology (research, clinical, forensic, applied, etc.) and/or a therapeutic qualification is required. Experience working with young people and those with learning disabilities and mental health experience is essential. Other backgrounds, such as social work or community youth work with relevant qualifications, will be considered.
Job Purpose
• To provide specialist assessment and treatment for young people and families as part of a multidisciplinary clinical service.
• To create a psychologically safe and therapeutic environment for young people, staff, and families.
• To work as a link worker with other mental health teams, providing consultation and co-facilitating groups.
• To support Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Neglect, Abuse, Trauma (NAT) Service provision.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical and Client Care
• Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions for young people and families.
• Deliver culturally appropriate psychological interventions.
• Assess and monitor risk and develop appropriate risk management plans.
• Act as a key worker, taking responsibility for reviewing care plans and arranging meetings.
Contributing to Team or Service Clinical Functioning
• Contribute to the delivery of accessible, acceptable services within a psychologically informed framework.
• Promote and challenge discrimination, supporting the development of culturally competent services.
• Liaise with referrers, GPs, and professionals to develop and review care plans.
Policy and Service Development
• Implement and improve policies and procedures in your area of work.
• Contribute to young people’s consultation and service delivery planning.
• Participate in service development projects.
Care or Management of Resources
• Use the organisation’s resources effectively and request supplies as needed.
Management and Supervision
• Supervise clinical practitioners within your area of expertise after completion of relevant training.
• Oversee and provide clinical supervision for assistant psychologists as required.
• Receive monthly management supervision and clinical supervision every two months.
Teaching and Training
• Provide specialist training in psychological approaches to care for other professionals.
• Share research and service evaluation findings through presentations and reports.
Record-Keeping and Information Governance
• Ensure that all clinical work is recorded in accordance with the organisation's policies and procedures.
• Maintain high standards of clinical record-keeping and report writing, including electronic data entry.
Research and Development
• Undertake service evaluation, audits, and research relevant to service needs.
Maintaining Professional Standards and Continuing Professional Development
• Receive regular clinical and professional supervision.
• Ensure Continuing Professional Development in line with professional registration bodies.
• Stay up-to-date with developments in professional practice and relevant legislation.
• Adhere to organisational policies and procedures.
General
• Travel to home visits, team bases, team meetings, and residential homes as needed. The role will be hybrid, with both face-to-face and virtual attendance required.
• Be aware of and follow protocols for managing aggressive or challenging behaviour.
• Respond appropriately to emotionally distressing situations, providing support to others involved.
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule:
• Monday to Friday
• Weekend work may occasionally be required
• Service delivery in the West Midlands or South Midlands area
Education:
• Postgraduate qualification (Essential)
Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in therapeutic services
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Health and Social Care
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children and young people
• Driving license is essential
Line Management: You will be line-managed by the Clinical Lead.
Location: National – Home and office-based to be negotiated.
