Job Title: Class 1 HGV Driver
Reports To: Warehouse & Distribution Manager/Assistant and/or Depot Manager
Job Purpose
To ensure the safe and efficient delivery of products to customers within a designated area while maintaining excellent customer service standards. You will also be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of your designated vehicle and compliance with all relevant safety and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery & Customer Service
Safely deliver products to customers within the specified area, ensuring all items are handled with care.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer needs and requests professionally and courteously.
Inform customers of any stock shortages or delivery issues, and communicate promptly with the office to resolve problems.
Collect payments, complete delivery notes, and return sheets accurately.
Vehicle Preparation & Maintenance
Conduct routine vehicle checks and operator maintenance to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition.
Ensure all customer pallets are loaded safely and securely onto the vehicle before departure.
Maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of the vehicle.
Compliance & Documentation
Comply with VOSA and working time guidelines, ensuring all legal requirements are met.
Complete all required safety and vehicle check sheets, submitting them to the Distribution Manager.
Maintain confidentiality regarding customer premises and operational information.
Additional Duties
Cover Class 2 journeys as needed.
Assist in the warehouse when required.
Ensure the correct uniform is worn at all times, presenting a professional image.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Licensing: Valid Class 1 HGV driving license
Safety: Strong understanding of road safety practices and regulations.
Customer Service: Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately complete paperwork and maintain vehicle standards.
Flexibility: Willingness to assist in other areas of the business when needed
