Freelance Site Agent - Civils Site Manager
Cheltenham GL50 4SH by the racecourse
Wellington Road to Central Cross Drive Section
The Wellington Road to Central Cross Drive section is an extension to the A435 Cycleway, providing further walking and cycling improvements alongside the A435 Evesham Road between Cheltenham and Bishop's Cleeve. This section will link directly into the walking and cycling improvements forming Section 1 - Honeybourne Line to Racecourse Roundabout, which has now started construction, and provide a further improved route to/from Cheltenham town centre.
Map showing different sections of the project
The Wellington Road to Central Cross Drive section of the scheme will include:
Installation of a new off-carriageway segregated cycleway alongside the east side of A435 Evesham Road.
New push button Toucan crossings for pedestrians and cyclists on the north, east and west arms of the A435 Evesham Road / Wellington Road junction.
New areas of shared use path at the A435 Evesham Road / Wellington Road junction, to enable pedestrians and cyclists to use the new crossings safely and conveniently.
New footway links to the Pittville Park inner footway.
The cycleway will be coloured green and clearly signposted, helping to differentiate between cycling and footway sections.
Sections of shared use path at the A435 Evesham Road / Wellington Road junction will be coloured differently and separated from the segregated cycleway by tactile paving, helping to alert of changes in priorities and encouraging cyclists and pedestrians to travel with care and attention.
