Competitive salary £45,000 P/A

The Role – Buyer.
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Buyer to join our procurement team. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, products, and services. This role requires strong analytical skills, supplier management expertise, and an understanding of market trends to ensure cost-effective procurement. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in procurement, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
The Buyer is responsible for purchasing direct and indirect materials for the UK Engineering business. This role will entail working with the broader organisation on purchase requisitions, quoting material, executing purchase orders, and ensuring invoices are processed appropriately. Working with the broader teams to develop a robust purchasing process will be a key aspect of this role.
Procurement & Sourcing:
Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise costs, quality, and delivery timelines.
Identify and evaluate new and existing suppliers to ensure reliable sourcing and competitive pricing.
Supplier & Vendor Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure effective collaboration.
Onboard new vendors to improve our price level in the organisation
In conjunction with the global sourcing team, negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to secure favorable pricing and service agreements.
Monitor supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards, service levels, and contractual obligations.
Cost & Budget Management:
Analyse procurement costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Work closely with the finance team to manage budgets and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement efficiency and cost reductions.
Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination:
Address supply chain disruptions and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Streamline procurement processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and supplier agreements.

Education:
GCSE level or equalivant
Possesses or is willing to obtain CIPS / CIPM certification as part of the role
Work Experience:
Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience in supplier relationship management and contract negotiations.
Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
