Job Title: Air and Ocean Freight Manager Location: Castleford, UK Department: Freight Operations Job Type: Full-time - Monday to Friday Salary £50,000pa + package Our client is a leading freight forwarding organisation who are now seeking an experienced air and ocean freight operations manager to oversee a growing department of dynamic freight operators We are seeking individuals who have strong leadership and coaching skills, coupled with the drive and motivation to help the department succeed. Experience with Cargowise system is an essential requirement for the position. In the short term, the successful candidate would be required on-site in the office with a view to more flexible/hybrid working once embedded in the business and operation. (We operate a hybrid working policy across all our UK branches) Job Overview: As our new Air and Ocean Freight Manager to you will oversee and lead a growing team of freight operators to ensure seamless and efficient transportation of goods by air and sea. You will be responsible for the operational performance, customer satisfaction, and continuous development of the freight department. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a team of freight operators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the smooth running of daily operations. Oversee and manage the end-to-end air and ocean freight operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies. Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective shipments. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to foster trust and long-term partnerships. Review and optimize operational processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality. Monitor performance indicators, ensuring KPIs are met and identifying areas for improvement. Manage the team's workload and distribute tasks based on priorities. Ensure the department adheres to safety and environmental regulations in all freight activities. Provide reports to senior management on department performance, issues, and opportunities for growth. Efficiently manage freight operations using CargoWise software, ensuring accurate and up-to-date data input and reporting.Qualifications & Experience: Proven experience in air and ocean freight management or logistics operations, preferably in a managerial role. Strong knowledge of international shipping, customs regulations, and freight forwarding processes. Experience in leading, motivating, and developing a team in a fast-paced environment. CargoWise user experience is a must. Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with a focus on efficiency and accuracy. A proactive approach with a solution-oriented mindset.
